Using Video In Digital Writing

    It is important to consider the best way to present the information when you are writing digitally. As I mentioned in the video they are times to write it down down and then times to present it using video. For example a prime time to use video is to demonstrate something. I often use video when I want to learn how to do something. They are just some things that are hard to understand by reading alone. However, there are also times to use writing, such as a least of statistics. This is a good example, because of several reasons, One is that a video of statistics would lose the viewers attention quickly. Another reason is that one might want to go back and view the statistics again, and that would be much easier in writing. ("When to.")

    As I went back and reviewed my original introduction. I decided that there was several things that I wanted to change to make the information in video received better by the audience. First, I wanted a less busy background. The first video I put a few standups that I use as hall passes at school to be funny, but when reviewing the video it was distracting and busy. I also wanted to make my points more clear as was mentioned in the chapter of the book by Turner and Hicks. (Turner, 2017) So I decided to go with a background of just my screen, and crop the video to where the background isn't busy. I also edited the video using adobe  to cut a lot of material and provide titles. I also added videos and pictures for clarity, informational, and entertainment value. 

    I haven't edited a lot of videos, but I think that it is a very useful skill. We live in a fast paced world and we have to find ways to catch the attention of our audiences. My audience in particular is my classroom. I am like more teachers I struggle at holding my students attention and I can see how video could help me keep their attention at times. However, that video has to be compelling and video editing is a way to put your best foot forward in presenting video. Video editing is a field that is always changing and it is important to keep up to date on new technology, to be able to keep up with the times. It is one of those skills I would like to acquire and I would encourage anyone to seek mastery. It can be used in most fields. It can be profitable to those who learn and capitalize on opportunities. (Sirotin, 2024)

    As technology expands, I think that most people are looking for ways to capture peoples attention. Understanding the different reasons why one would use video vs written material is important. It is equally important to be able to use video in a way that captivates our audiences. This assignment allowed me to edit a video, and I found it very enjoyable. So much so that I would like to do more if it, and use it more in my classroom.

Adobe Works to make Your Work Better

    A digital writer works a lot of hours coming up with the words to publish on a website. Then ster added the words they think, “I wish I could make this look better.” However, the reality is that they can make it look better. It is not near as hard or as difficult as it seems.  Among the most important software for any content creator to use is the group of software created by Adobe. Adobe software is used to develop Aesthetically delightful products that are attractive to the human eye. It is used by some of the largest companies in the world. Chances are everyday that you view multiple items that are created from a product belonging to Adobe’s software suite. (Lawrence, 2022) This software is even used by engineers to create aesthetically pleasing bridges, tunnels, and roads (Ye, 2020). The ability to create and edit images and video is a game changer for a digital writer looking to appeal to a mass audience. Adobe is not the only software company that creates software that addresses these issues, but Adobe is a household name and that has several benefits to the new user.

    Adobe has several different entities in it’s group. OF course most people are familiar with Adobe Acrobat which is used to edit, create, and sign PDF’s. Those who are looking to edit images would find Photoshop useful as well. Those who are writing for a pamphlet or Newspaper could really use a software like InDesign. Others who are in need of editing or creating images that need to be resized could benefit from Adobe Illustrator. Premiere Pro is a video editing software that one could edit multiple layers of video with (Lawrence, 2022). This is not an all inclusive list, there are more than 20 Adobe products available. Each one of them seeks to address a different situation. Many of them are useful for Graphic Designers.

    One of the biggest benefits that Adobe offers that many unknown software companies cannot match is the unlimited amount of content created to support it. One of the reasons why many content creators do not already use imaging and video editing software is because of the fear that it is too complicated. However, because Adobe is widely used, that means there is an unlimited amount of content created to help someone in learning how to use the software. There really is no excuse for one to make content look more appealing because of the resources available. A digital writer can view multiple videos or instructional shows that would allow the creator to take advantage of such powerful software (Lawrence, 2022).

    Adobe and other imaging and video editing software is very useful to the digital writer. There are tons of software out there, but Adobe is highly recommended. One of the main reasons it is recommended is because there are countless resources online to teach it’s use. This allows a content creator to make their work more aesthetically pleasing.
